Osho South Africa

December  2008 Newsletter

Dear Friends

This amazing or terrible year is coming to a close, the intensity and speed of change is accelerating without a doubt, some of us showered with immense gifts and some lose all they have. this seems to be going on, and will escalate in the next few years. Osho has predicted that this period leading to 2012-2013 will be dramatic and intense beyond what we experienced so far. It is the period of immense growing pain and ecstasy, old ways have to go and fast, and the new is pushing to come.

I feel an urge to intensify my effortless efforts to advance my state of perception and to share Oshos work with all of you. This year was such a ball, we had so many  events and many more friends or people are involved and take part in his work, it warms my heart… I always felt from a sannyas point of view that South Africa is a bit slow, and it still is a far cry from what is going on in Europe India Oz ect.

But wow, we had Subodhi doing a who is in workshop in April this year in the Drakensberg with Rasada and many others who were there to assist.

Turiya Hannover came here to take us on a profound and deep journey of Sufi essence work.

Liz Bullen who came recently fresh from Poona India arranged for Anand Videh to do fascinating Painting workshops this October in Cape own, before disappearing to her busy schedule at the film co. she is running.

All this along the  monthly full moon retreats at the osho Zen monastery in knysna, and the monthly retreats that I was offering in Cape town with great outcome and participation.

Not to forget the evening meditations at Virag and Betina, Rasadas laughing meditations in JHB.

In WINDHOEK Namibia the stirring is happening, we had a successful and wonderful 4 month Rebalancing training at Ludos place, Annica  a health spa in Windhoek.Oshos meditations like the Dynamic meditation are taking place once in a while with the help of Rowena and a sannyasin that came back from Hamburg Germany  to settle in Windhoek.

Osho is actually a word in the local language in Namibia which means “it is” and is also used as a given name, so don’t be surprised to hear that someone answers Osho if you ask him for his name in Namibia.

Osho at his controversial, provocative best on sex, morality and being a Rebel.

Exploring Consciousness regularly screens new films on the last Sunday of every month at the Labia on Orange in Cape Town in cooperation with Renaissance magazine

Osho is a controversial mystic who stirred havoc in establishments around the world. Described as a “free-thinking agnostic” and praised for “liberating the minds of future generations from the shackles of religiosity and conformism”.

We had a screening of an Osho DVD in an alternative movie house in Cape Town with more than 130 viewers (they said it was one of the most packed shows), it’s always amazing to see how many people actually know about Osho and read his work and draw inspiration and guidance from his books and talks. The subject was spicy and accordingly the debate after the screening.

It always strikes me that he never wanted to create a new religion, a following with the traditional group dynamics and dogmas, but a free exploring individual people, a group of friends.

In this context to spread his work seems counterproductive, but still it wants to be done, what a paradox…J

So next year, with more vigor intention and fun I plan to sound Osho’s horn over Africa together with all the rest of us and our great invited teachers. I trust that his work can create such a transformation for so many, as I have experienced without a doubt.

Join the dance in the new year.

Sending you blessings on your journey

Prasado

When thou commandest me to sing it seems that my heart would break with pride; and I look to thy face, and tears come to my eyes.

All that is harsh and dissonant in my life melts into one sweet harmony---and my adoration spreads wings like a glad bird on its flight across the sea.

I know thou takest pleasure in my singing. I know that only as a singer I come before thy presence.

I touch by the edge of the far-spreading wing of my song thy feet which I could never aspire to reach.

Drunk with the joy of singing I forget myself and call thee friend who art my lord.

From Gitanjali by Rabindranath Tagore
